Top Recruit Terrelle Pryor Looks To Make History in Pennsylvania Semifinals

We don't have to go through the long list of great western Pennsylvania quarterback again...just think Montana, Marino and Namath and you'll be fine.

On Saturday when the nation's top recruit Terrelle Pryor leads his Jeannette Jayhawks onto the field against Wilmington in the PIAA 2A semfinals, Pryor will have a chance to do what no other quarterback in WPIAL history has done....rush for 4,000 yards and throw for 4,000.

Pryor surpassed the 4,000 yards passing last week and needs 118 yards to reach that magical mark. And talk about balance, this year Pryor, who usually plays only a half because of blowing out opponents, has rushed for 1,531 yards and 29-touchdowns and thrown for 19 touchdowns and 1,585.

As a team Jeannette is also putting up some incredible numbers including 770 points so far, which eclipses the all-time of 747 points a year ago by Southern Columbia.

On defense, the Jayhawks will have to shutdown Pitt-recruit Chris Burns, who's rushed for over 2,100 yards this year. Only one running back, East Allegheny's Monte Ashby, has rushed for more than 100 yards in a game this year against Jeannette.

It's the second straight year that Jeannette and Wilmington have played for the right to go to the the state final. Last year, Jeannette won 28-7 and then lost to Wilson in the championship game.
