LaSalle Wins PIAA 4A Football Title

For the first time since being admitted into the PIAA two years ago, a team from the Philadelphia Catholic League has won a state championship.

LaSalle College High School beat State College 24-7 to capture District 12's first state title. The Sentinel reports that running back Sam Feleciia helped the Explorers run out to a 24-0 halftime lead.

Selinsgrove Wins First Pennsylvania Football Championship

Selinsgrove closed out a perfect 16-0 season Friday beating Manheim Central 10-7 to win the PiAA 3A state football championship.

According to the Patriot-News, the Seals captured their first state football title after trailing behind 7-0 in the first half.

Clairton Wins Title 24-Hours After Assistant Coach Murdered

Clairton honored assistant Demonje Rosser, who was murdered less than 24-hours before the Bears took the field for the 1A state championship game, by winning the school's first football championship beating Bishop McCort 15-3 on Friday.

The Daily News reports that Clairton's seniors closed out a career that saw the team go 54-5.

Lancaster Catholic Wins PIAA 2A Football Championship

Lancaster Catholic beat Greensburg Central Catholic 21-14 on Saturday to win its first state football title.

The Patriot-News reports that Lancaster Catholic claimed to the 2A championship by battling back from two early Greensburg CC scores in the first quarter.

After three years of not being in Hershey for the AAA championship game, Manheim Central has returned to Chocolatetown, USA.

The Barons beat WPIAL champ West Allegheny Friday night 45-27 to advance to the state title game against Selinsgrove. The Patriot-News reports that Manheim Central was led by quarterback Justin Gorman, who accounted for 327 yards of total offense.

Pennsylvania's #1 AAAA found out why the post-season is a completely different game.

Bishop McDevitt came-in as a heavy favorite against Cumberland Valley, but after two overtimes, it was CV that advanced to next week's state semifinals against State College. The Patriot-News reports that the Rams defense was the key to the victory.

So after winning three games in nine days, the Easton football team has got to be happy with an entire week to prepare for its Pennsylvania Class AAAA quarterfinal match-up with LaSalle College, which spent a part of the season as the #1 ranked team in a couple of state polls. The Philadelphia Inquirer has a preview of the match-up that will see the winner advancing to the state Final Four next weekend against the winner of North Penn/Ridley game.
