#3 Liberty Upset By Crosstown Rival Bethlehem Catholic 28-14

Once again two-time Class AAAA state runner-up Liberty found out that records don't mean anything when it comes to intra-city battles in Bethlehem.

For the second straight year Friday night, Bethlehem Catholic (2-4) upset the unbeaten Hurricanes, who entered the game 5-0 and ranked third in the state in the latest Harrisburg Patriot-News high school football rankings.

Senior Ben Eichman tossed two touchdown passes for the Golden Hawks, who beat Liberty last year 21-20 in overtime. Junior tailback Ed Mateo rushed for 113 yards on 14 carries with scoring runs of 18 and 3 yards.

Wilson Preview

Ah...the alma mater!! Hard to bask in the 2006 Class 2A state championship, when you know that all-everything QB D.J. Lenehan and thousands of yards in other offensive weapons are gone!!

Anyway, here's a preview of this year's Warriors. I'm also including pics of Smith Field, which is one of the best!! We still play football under the sun on Saturdays and you can't beat the Dixie Cup overlooking the action. Yes....that is the original Dixie Cup plant for those of you not familiar with Wilson Warrior and Lehigh Valley football!!
