Germantown Academy-Penn Charter Rivalry Turns 125 Years Old This Weekend

The Keystone State's oldest high school football rivalry renews for the 125th time on Saturday when Germantown Academy squares-off with Penn Charter.

These two first met on November 18, 1887.  The rivalry is known as America's longest continuous high school football game.  Germantown Academy won the first game 20-6, but trails the overall series.  Penn Charter, which brings a ten game win streak into the match-up, leads the all-time series 80-33 with 11 ties.

Here's a look at some of the state's other active rivalry games, according to start date:

1887 - The Hill School (Pottstown) vs. Lawrenceville School (NJ)
1892 - Northeast (Philadelphia) vs. Central (Philadelphia)
1893 - Bradford vs. Olean (NY)
1893 - Pottsville vs. Reading
1893 - Mt. Carmel vs. Shamokin
1897 - Lower Merion vs. Radnor
1899 - Mahanoy Area vs. Shenandoah Valley
1906 - Easton vs. Phillipsburg (NJ)
