How much does football rule over basketball in Pennsylvania?
Just check out the lastest move by the PIAA, which has voted that starting with the 2008-09 school year, there will be one less week for winter sports.
Why?
Well, ever since the state increased the football season to 16 weeks a few years ago, there was more of an overlap with the winter sports season. So instead of cutting the football season, the PIAA has decided that it will reduce the number of regular season basketball games from 24 to 22 and start a week later.
