The High School Football Huddle
Thanks to its impressive 45-17 win over pre-season Class AAAA #1 Penn Hills, Gateway moves to the top of the heap in the newest Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Top 5 high school football rankings.
Moving into the #2 spot is St. Joseph's Prep, which beat last week's #4 Parkland 20-13. Hard to believe, but Week 1 may turn-out to be the best of the season in Class AAAA since it featured match-ups of #1 vs. #2 and #3 vs. #4.
In Class AAA, Thomas Jefferson remains #1 even though it opened the season with a loss. That defeate came at the hands of nationally ranked Glenville (Cleveland, OH). Aliquippa and Steelton-Highspire also held on to their pre-season #1 rankings with wins.
